Good V.S. Evil Wisdom (Study of James- Part 17)
Did you know, there are 2 types of Wisdoms? A good wisdom and an evil wisdom. Each can do great things. Can I start and tell you that we need the good wisdom, that is alone found in our LordJesus Christ, all else wisdom apart from Lord, is from the evilness within us that the devil comes and put’s in us. Let me teach you really fast about each one.
How can you know if your wisdom is good or evil?
By our deeds; Evil deeds show we have evil Wisdom. Good deeds, show that we have Good wisdom. “Who is wise and understanding among you? Let them show it by their good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom.” (James 3:13)
What is evil wisdom? How do we know we have evil wisdom? What does it look like?
- Harbor bitter envy
- Selfish ambition
If you have those 2 things stored up inside your heart, then what will come of it?
- Every evil practice
Those 2 things, will lead you to those other 2 things.
The bible gives us a warning of this. If we have this evil wisdom in us, don’t deny it and don’t boast about it, since it is evil. We must take it away from our lives today, or it will eat us alive.
“But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth. Such “wisdom” does not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, and demonic. For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice.” (James 3:14-16)
How do we know that we have good wisdom?
- All pure
- Full of mercy
- Good fruit
Peace will follow in the life of a man that has good wisdom. Disorder (no peace) in the life of a man with evil wisdom.
“But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness.” (James 3:17-18)
GOOD WISDOM IS NOT OF THIS WORLD. One is of the devil and other is of God. If you’re of God with evil wisdom, you need to fix your relationship with God. If you have Good wisdom, then you need to keep on growing in your relationship with God.
9 Do not be wise in your own eyes;
fear the LORD and shun evil.
8 This will bring health to your body
and nourishment to your bones.
9 Honor the LORD with your wealth,
with the firstfruits of all your crops;
10 then your barns will be filled to overflowing,
and your vats will brim over with new wine.
11 My son, do not despise the LORD’s discipline,
and do not resent his rebuke,
12 because the LORD disciplines those he loves,
as a father the son he delights in.
13 Blessed are those who find wisdom,
those who gain understanding,
14 for she is more profitable than silver
and yields better returns than gold.
15 She is more precious than rubies;
nothing you desire can compare with her.
16 Long life is in her right hand;
in her left hand are riches and honor.
17 Her ways are pleasant ways,
and all her paths are peace.
18 She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her;
those who hold her fast will be blessed.
