Psalm 52:5-7 (NIV)
5 Surely God will bring you down to everlasting ruin: He will snatch you up and pluck you from your tent; he will uproot you from the land of the living. 6 The righteous will see and fear; they will laugh at you, saying, 7 “Here now is the man who did not make God his stronghold but trusted in his great wealth and grew strong by destroying others!”
In life there are 2 things that grab people and depending what you grab, will depend rather your be putting yourself into a pit, or not putting yourself in a pit, but be caught up in glory.
Money has an amazing impact on people. Both good and bad. It can provide food to your house-hold or greed in your heart. Food keeps you living, greed will kill you. Root of evil, is the Love of Money. The Love of Money is a very dangerous thing to mess with, but sadly, each person alive has to have money daily to be alive. So they can at-least be able to buy food.
Jesus is living water, and his body is bread. We serve a God, who fills us fully, if we have him fully in our hearts. Anything and everything we do should be for him and his glory. Sadly, many christians don’t care about what God wants for them, but what “(I) want for (myself)”. That’s dangerous, because what (I) want is always going to boil down to wealth, and that is going to make a ton of Christian fall into that pit.
I’m not saying that rich christians are false, but I am saying if your motives are “make money”, then think again. Your motives need to be “Make Glory to God”. Now he might lead you to make money, so later he can be glorify with the use of that money. But if your life is self center, that’s dangerous. “Self” is always targeting money-making or what we want for ourselves, despite others. We need to be God-Centered, that will be “Making God Glorified”.
What is your Stronghold?
Money or God?
