Below is the 6th Chapter of “Authentic Living”
“Don’t be deceived, my dear brothers and sisters. Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” (James 1:16-17)
The devil is what he is, the devil. His own name calls him out on it. The Devil is Evil. He is D-evil! The devil went to war against God in heaven and his main plan is to take us out. Not to dinner, but to Hell. The devil is what the bible calls the ‘Great Deceiver’. The whole meaning of life for him is the steal, kill and destroy. “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” John 10:10. He achieves his life purpose by deceiving people. Jesus comes to give life in full.
September 11, 2001
On September 11, 2001, 19 terrorists hijacks 3 commercial planes. The first two planes hit both of the world trade center towers and third plane hit the pentagon. Many people lost their lives that day. The nation entered into a new state of defense and into a war that lasted almost 2 decades long.
What if the US was ready on September 10, 2001? What if the US would of taken security more seriously on September 10, 2001? Well, we would still have the twin towers standing. The nation would have never gone to war. Most importantly, due to that event in our nation’s history, millions of people have lost their lives. 9/11 claimed 2,977 victims + 19 hijackers. If we stopped 19 hijackers on 9/11/2001, 2,977 people would have gone home that day. But our nation wasn’t standing ready for the enemy to attack. It cost us 2977 civilians plus over 15 years of our troops blood shred in the middle east. Not standing ready cost us way more than we wanted and keep us far longer than we wanted to stay.
The devil want to hijack your life. He wants to steal your life and then destroy you. Just like the these 19 terrorists.
How does the Devil Deceive?
“You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman. “For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”
He will tell us a partial truth and throw in a small unnoticed lie. Most of what the devil said to Eve was true, the only thing that was a lie was the first 5 words.
2 Corinthians 11:14 “And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.” This verse calls the devil a “Angel of Light”. The devil using this tool up his sleeve to deceive people. What better way to deceive people to sin then to come in and look like a righteous figure? Those 19 hijackers didn’t go into the airport looking like 19 hijackers, they went in looking like 19 normal people. In the Genesis story, the devil came into the garden looking like another creature of the garden.
Now that we know that the devil is going to camouflage himself to match his surroundings and try to trick us, we need to test everything that anyone says. Test the things in this book. Test the words your pastor preaches. Test the preachers on TV. Don’t just believe anything that people tell you, just because they say that they have a title of “Pastor” over you or that they have a 1000 hours of theology education, test everyone. “Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets (Pastors) have gone out into the world.” 1 John 4:1.
The truth is, the devil isn’t going to use the church of satan to deceive us, he is going to use the church of christ to deceive us. What does that mean for us? It means to open your bible and read it everyday. Know what the bible says and find a bible believing church that follows God so that you can be shephed in the ways of God.
Reading the bible and praying are great tools to use for our walk with God, so we can slowly get to Know God and His Word.
In Matthew 4, the devil comes to Jesus trying to trick him into turning rocks into bread to satisfy his hunger. Try to trick him into proving that he was the Son of God, by throwing himself off the highest point of a temple. When the devil saw testing Jesus’s Title of “Son of God” wasn’t working, he told Jesus, “Worship me and I’ll give you all the Kingdoms of the World.” The devil knew Jesus came to die on the cross and that was going to be his way of claiming kingship over all creation. The devil knew the Plan of God way before Jesus picked the 12 disciples.
The devil tried to offer Jesus another way to take possession of the nations, an unholy way, an evil way. Three times Jesus says, “It is Written”. The devil tried to trick Jesus, but he couldn’t, because Jesus knew what was written. Do you know what is Written? Open the Bible and Don’t be deceived by the devil. If he tried deceiving Jesus, he is going to try deceiving you too.
“For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”
