The title “Don’t Help Who?” isn’t one that you expect a minister to title his sermon. Why is this sermon title that? The word of God talks about helping people who need the help and sadly allowing people to fall into the pit. Why though?
God is a God of Love and Justice. Like a penny has two sides, God has a love side and justice side of him. Because of his love, he is just too. See, because of sin and the war against God, that mankind has led against him and his holiness, he allows us to fall into the pit on our own. He calls his people to do the same. To allow people to fall on their own. If he helps evil than he would be evil, but because he is Holy, he won’t help evil. In his holiness, he sees fit that the sinful people receive their due rewarded payment for their own sin.
Jesus said, “Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your peals to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and then turn and tear you to pieces” Matthew 7:6
Okay, so first we see this is not a suggestion, it’s a command. “Do not..”. If a commander gives an order to a soldier in the army then they better listen or else they get in big trouble. If you join the US Army, you listen to every word that commander says or else you could face jail time and get dis-charge. Now, in the sense of the bible. You can NOT loss your salvation, but God might not use you as much as you would like him to or he may not bless you as much either. You do end up paying in some way, but not with lost of salvation, just lost of something like that promotion or maybe God brings a storm in your life to help you grow stronger in your faith to obey him. We have to understand to obey Jesus when he says, “DO NOT..”.
As we move forward, it says, “Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs.”. The word Sacred means Devoted or even Holy. So your faith, your God. Don’t devote yourself to dogs. Don’t give dogs your faith. Don’t leave your faith for the faithless. Dogs are evil doers. Dogs are seen like demons and the people who have rejected the Lord Jesus. Jesus is telling us, don’t give away your faith for the faithless. He says it the other way to, don’t throw your value in God to pigs.
I wanted to show this one to. We can always have different views of the bible here and there. But, pigs are lazy. You ever heard that saying, “your a pig”. I have a brother that we used to call him a pig all the time, because he didn’t get up and work. He just was lazy. In and out of jail because he wants to steal cars and rob houses. Now up north running from police, he being a pig to another house. Don’t help lazy people. If you see someone who just not trying to help themselves, then it’s a waste of time to use your peals or in other words, your money and faith and time to help the person, because sadly to say, they just won’t listen.
Let’s help those who are trying to help themselves, but allow pigs and dogs to fall. The word of God tells us that if we spend our time trying to help pigs and dogs, then they will just trample our help under their feet, and see it as worthless help in their eyes and then cause you to fall with them. “…they may trample them under their feet, and then turn and tear you to pieces.”.
Am I really going to preach this? I’m asking myself. Yea, because it’s something that people passed by and many people just don’t see this one verse. We read all about give, give and give, but what about don’t help or give? It’s there. Don’t help lazy people or those who are looking to only use you.
DOGS- “As dogs returns to its vomit, so a fool repeats his folly.” Proverbs 26:11
Story…
There was a lady. She was involved in sex, money and drugs. Someone thought they should try help them get out of this problem so they went up to them and offer to help them to get out of this way of living. The woman said okay, but her mind was thinking she could use his house as a drug house and no one would know right. Time pass by and the police caught up to the woman’s drug selling. The police ended up catching the woman red hand one day when the men was at work. The woman off the jail and the guy lost his home and job and everything came crashing down.
Now, we can re-act this with what Jesus said. The men help the woman when the woman was in the hospital after being raped and shot and hopeless and helpless.
I know it seems wrong, but the truth is if we see a men that not looking for a job, don’t give the guy money to help him make ends meet. Let the guy fall, even if his family if falling with him. Allow people who are lazy fall. When they do fall, then put your hand out and help them. Allow people to fall, so when they do fall, you then put your hand out to help them. Never allow people to stand on laziness. Allow people to fall in their laziness, so then you can put your hope in Christ out for them.
“A men’s own folly ruins his life…” Proverbs 19:3
“Laziness brings on deep sleep, and the shiftless man goes hungry.” Proverbs 19:15
I’m not saying not to help people in need, but I’m saying, as the bible says in Proverbs 10:5, “He who gathers crops in the summer is a wise son, but he who sleeps during harvest is a disgraceful son.” Stop receiving unemployment. If you don’t work, then don’t eat.
Help those who are asking you for help, but you see they are trying to help themselves. “If a man shuts his ears to cry of the poor (not lazy, but poor. Poor are working), he too will cry out and not be answered.” Proverbs 21:13
This is more of a rebuke to the unemployed lazy people stealing from hard-working people. It’s the word of God. I’m calling people to stop helping lazy people. Demand the lazy to get up and work. “Better a open rebuke than hidden love” Proverbs 27:5
If your mad or hurt, it’s only God speaking to you and you won’t admit your sins to him and change your own folly ways.
