The Harvest and the Harvesters (Study of Matthew – Part 40)
Jesus just raised back to life, after being killed. He was beaten and then nailed to a cross to hung and die. In three day’s he raised to life and then goes into heaven. Imagine yourself 2000 years ago on earth. You was a follower of Jesus who is called the Christ. You witness everything that happened in the ministry of Jesus on this earth. He tells you to go Preach this Gospel to the end of the world. He warns you that if you do, your be beaten and killed yourself and you still go forth and do as he told you. Put yourself in this situation for a minute. In Matthew 9:35-9:38 we learn more about our own job in the church, more than just a Sunday school ride, but why we are here today.
I would like to point out a few points about preaching the Gospel. The Bible says that only a few are preaching the Word of God to people. Jesus tells us to pray for more preachers and ministers to raise up and preach the word of God. He also tells us that there are a lot of lost people in the world and that we as his people need to raise up and reach them. “37 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. 38 Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” Matthew 9:37-38.
Is the Calling of God on your life to preach his word? First the answer is yes, the calling is on your life to preach his word to People. Believe it or not, but everyone your around, most likely know that you’re a Christian, you can’t keep that a secret, in some way shape of form, people around you know that you’re a Christian and guest what, the way your living your life on a daily bases is preached to the people around you about your Faith in God. At work, my boss curses a lot, steals from the workers their hours, on top of this lie’s to the company, but then he prays over his meals and says, “I’m a Christian and go to this church.” Guest what, I look at him and wonder to myself, “what is that guy’s church pastor preaching from the bible to have him living a corrupt life?” The way you live is preached to the people around you. Remember that. You’re a Preacher weather you like it or not and you will answer to God about what your preaching to people. You won’t lose your salvation is you are saved, but others around you won’t know how to be saved if you’re not living like you are saved. The goal is to get other people to Jesus.
Where can I preach the Word of God? This this world, most places will lock you up for preaching the Gospel, others places will kill you and even our own nation tries to shut you up by making all this laws in how you can and can’t preach or speak. But Jesus says to go and preach this Gospel to the ends of the earth. You must have compassion when you’re ministering to people. Remember your ministering to the helpless, the hurt and rejected. It’s the outcast that your minister is most likely going to reach the most. But where would you go and preach this Gospel? Go to the Houses, Stress and parks. Go in Churches that are preaching false Gospel’s. Go everywhere, even if you might lose your own life, preach this Gospel. God is with you and that what counts. Remember your minister should always HELP people, not harm them. “35 Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. 36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.” Matthew 9:35-36
So remember,
- You’re a Preacher
- Your Called by God
- Show compassion to the outcast
- Live a life that Glorifies the God
