Spread the love

The most important part of building a house would not be the walls, roof, or any part of the house. The house is just worthless, the most important part of building a house would be the foundation of the house. The foundation helps the house stand firm. If it has a good foundation, then when floods, storms and earthquakes hit, the foundation helps your house stand. Now image if you put your house in mud or sand or something other than concrete. Well, the first flood, storm or earthquake that hits that house will totally destroy that house. The house wouldn’t stand firm on the ground it was establish on. The Foundation means life or death for the house.

I love how God created the world. Just about everything you can think of, concerning creation of the world is actual pointing to the God of the Bible. Spiritual we need a foundation. We as people all over the world, no matter faith status, we need a foundation for our lives. There is an understanding in earth person’s heart, that we simply need something to keep us standing and stay alive on earth. Some people turn to going to college, others start a business, and others do other things. I’m not sure what you are doing to hold your life together, but the bible says that if you place your life on anything other than God, then your life will just fall apart. “But first seek his kingdom and his righteousness and all these things will be given to you as well.” Matthew 6:33. The other way is true as well, if you don’t seek first God all in all, then nothing will be given to you. Your life will therefore just fall apart.

The bible calls God a Rock, Psalm 18:2, “The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.”

Psalms 18 is a song of Victory David praised God with after God saved him from King Saul. King Saul dis-obey God, so God rejected him as King over Israel. The story goes that God Chose the lowest/weakest person in all Israel to lead the nation. God a God who uses the weak to lead the strong. With God nothing was impossible. David a Shepherd, now being told by Samuel the Prophet that he will be the next king of Israel. Even when Saul seek to kill David, God was always with David. God never forsake David.

Why? Why did God not forsake him? Surly it was for the kingship right? God needed a King to lead his people. No, mater in fact, God was dis-please with Israel. Asking for a King to lead them, when God was their King the whole time. God never left David, because David was seen righteous before God. David was in right standing with God. David put God first in everything. David’s life was centered on God.

David write’s that God is…

  1. Foundation of his life… “The Lord is my Rock”
  2. The Protection of his life… “my fortress and my deliverer”

We were talking about the House, built on concrete, it will stand when storms and flood and earthquakes hit. Think about that House for moment. The House has its foundations and then your start building the house on that foundation. Set up the walls and the roof. We got to put God first in our life and then as we build our life up on him, we raise up some walls of protection and a roof of protection. But who is our walls and roof? The Bible says God is “my fortress and deliverer.” Think about that, unless we set our life on God and put our boundaries as God and his word, we will not be delivered through everything. YES EVERYTHING! We must put God our all in all.

We all go through trails in life. The testing of our faith. We all go through these bad seasons in life. I am this very day, but I trust in My God to restore me back to how things were. We as believers must put our life on God. We have to make sure we have our foundation of our life on GOD. If it’s not then you will not make it out of that trail. The valley of the Shadow of Death your in will destroy you, if God isn’t the stronghold of your life.

I told you, I’m in a trail right now. I’m in something calls that “Valley of the Shadow of Death”. Psalm 23 speaks about David going through that also. All God’s people will be tested and put through trails like this. God is faithful, he won’t give you too much you can’t handle. But, the other day, I got to a point of crossing the street and there was a 18 wheeler waiting to go, but the guy in the 18 wheeler told me to go first. I started running across the street. As I was running, I saw the 18 wheeler start moving forward, I thought it was going to hit me, so I moved a little bit to the edge of the street to get farther away from 18 wheeler just in case. Well, right then, this car going about 40 miles an hour goes zip right by me. No joke, that car way just 1 inch away from hitting me. If that car hit me, then that 18 wheeler would have hit me. I would be dead right now. God protecting me in this season of trail I’m in right now. The devil seeks to destroy me, but God protecting me.

I put God first in my life and God becomes the protection of my life. God want to protect your life today. All it takes is placing God daily first in your life. You must have God as that Foundation. You must give up everything that you are, and place God as everything. When we are weak he is strong, he becomes our stronghold and salvation. Will you set God us your foundation?

Matthew 7:24-27 (NIV)

24 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”
